At-a-glance

In this meaningful CSR activity, your team will assemble and personalise gift bags for delivery riders working across the UAE, providing practical support and a simple but powerful reminder that their contribution is valued.

Each gift bag contains carefully selected essentials based on real conversations with riders, including items designed to support comfort, wellbeing, and daily life on the road. Participants then personalise the tote bags themselves using paints, colours, drawings, and creative designs, transforming each one into something unique and personal.

What makes this activity unique is the combination of practical support and creativity. While all riders receive the same core items to ensure fairness, no two tote bags are ever the same. Each one reflects the personality and imagination of the team that created it, making the experience meaningful for both participants and the riders who receive them.

Why This Activity Exists

Every day, thousands of delivery riders travel across the UAE delivering food, groceries, medicine, and essential items to homes and workplaces. They are a vital part of modern life, yet their contribution often goes unnoticed.

Many riders spend long hours on the road, navigating traffic, extreme temperatures, and demanding schedules to ensure others receive what they need, when they need it.

This activity is part of a broader movement towards team activities that give back, where companies combine employee engagement with genuine social impact. It was developed in collaboration with the UAE’s largest delivery service company, with a simple goal: to create a CSR team activity where businesses and their employees could recognise and support the workers who help keep our communities moving every day.

While practical items are important, we quickly realised that recognition matters just as much.

A simple thank-you message, a gesture of appreciation, or a moment of human connection can have a surprisingly powerful impact. Many riders spend their working day interacting with hundreds of people, yet rarely receive direct acknowledgement for the work they do.

Why did we build it this way?

Every part of this activity was designed intentionally. Through conversations with delivery riders, we focused on providing items that are genuinely useful rather than symbolic. At the same time, we wanted participants to contribute something personal, which is why personalised tote bags are a central part of the experience.

The result is an activity that delivers practical support while also recognising the effort and contribution of the people behind every delivery.

For participants, it offers a chance to step outside their daily routine and make a direct difference. For riders, it serves as a reminder that their hard work is seen, valued, and appreciated.

How the Session Runs

The activity is led by Companies for Good facilitators with hands-on experience delivering CSR and community impact activities across the UAE. Our facilitators are trained to create experiences that feel engaging and purposeful, not scripted or overly corporate.

  • The session begins with a short introduction to the beneficiaries, helping participants understand the important role delivery riders play in our daily lives and some of the challenges they face. Through real stories and practical insights, teams gain a greater appreciation for the people behind the deliveries they receive every day.
  • Participants then move into the hands-on part of the activity, assembling gift bags using carefully selected items chosen based on conversations with riders and their day-to-day needs. These include practical essentials such as reusable water bottles, towels, flip-flops, personal care items, and other useful products designed to support comfort and wellbeing.
  • Next, participants move on to the personalisation element. Each gift bag is presented in a plain white tote bag which participants are invited to decorate using paints, colours, drawings, messages, and creative designs. There are no templates and no artistic experience required, just an opportunity to create something personal for the rider who will receive it.

This is usually the part participants enjoy most. Once the paints come out, people tend to get surprisingly invested in the process. Some create detailed artwork, others write messages of encouragement, and many collaborate with colleagues on designs. By the end of the session, no two bags look alike and every tote bag has its own personality.

  • As the session progresses, conversations flow naturally, collaboration emerges organically, and teams become increasingly invested in the impact they are creating together. The room quickly fills with colour, creativity, and a shared sense of purpose.
  • Where logistics allow, organisations may choose to include a distribution element as part of the experience. This gives participants the opportunity to meet riders in person and hand over the gift bags directly, creating a memorable moment of human connection and appreciation. When a distribution component is not included, Companies for Good coordinates delivery through trusted partners and community networks to ensure the bags reach the intended beneficiaries.

Participants leave with a stronger appreciation for the delivery riders and the satisfaction of knowing they have created something both practical and personal for someone who helps keep our cities moving every day.

Real outcomes for your team and your people

For your organisation

Most of us interact with delivery riders almost every day, yet rarely stop to think about the role they play in keeping our communities running. This activity encourages teams to look beyond the transaction and recognise the people behind every delivery.

The tote bag personalisation element adds a unique dimension to the experience. Participants are creating something that will be used and appreciated by a real person. Seeing dozens of plain white bags transformed into colourful, one-of-a-kind creations gives teams a tangible sense of ownership and contribution.

Because the beneficiaries are local and familiar, the impact feels immediate and relatable. Employees leave with a greater appreciation for the people who help keep our cities moving, while organisations reinforce their values around community engagement, empathy, and social responsibility.

Activities like this are becoming increasingly popular as companies look for more meaningful ways to approach CSR team building in Dubai, combining employee engagement with visible and measurable community impact.

For individual participants

There is something rewarding about creating something for a real person, especially someone whose work often goes unnoticed. Personalising a tote bag may seem like a simple task, but once participants start designing, painting, and adding their own creative touches, they become genuinely invested in the outcome.

The activity also offers a welcome break from the pace of everyday work. It gives participants the opportunity to step away from screens, engage in a hands-on creative process, and focus on something that feels meaningful and human. That shift in focus can be both refreshing and energising.

Participants leave with a stronger understanding of the challenges delivery riders face and the important role they play in our daily lives.

Knowing that something you created will be used by another person creates a strong sense of purpose and fulfillment. It is a simple reminder that small gestures can make a meaningful difference, not only for the people receiving them, but also for those taking the time to create them.

UAE Vision 2030 Alignment

The UAE places strong emphasis on building a cohesive, inclusive society where wellbeing, community engagement, and social responsibility play an important role in national development. This activity aligns closely with that vision by recognising and supporting delivery riders, a workforce that plays an essential role in everyday life across the UAE. By providing practical support and expressing appreciation for their contribution, participants help foster a culture of respect, inclusion, and community spirit.

The experience also reflects the UAE’s growing focus on corporate volunteering and purpose-driven employee engagement. It demonstrates how organisations can contribute positively to society while creating meaningful experiences for their people.

As His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has stated, “The true wealth of a nation lies in its people.” Activities such as this bring that principle to life by recognising the individuals whose efforts help keep our communities running every day.

By taking part, your team contributes to the values of empathy, generosity, and shared responsibility that continue to shape the UAE’s vision for a stronger and more connected society.

Lasting community impact

Companies for Good was created to help businesses make a positive impact for society, employees, and the wider community. This initiative reflects that mission by giving organisations the opportunity to recognise and support the people who help keep our cities running every day.

Since launching this activity in June 2026, employees from companies across the UAE have assembled and personalised more than 300 gift bags for delivery riders. Every tote bag is unique, transformed through creativity, colour, and personal expression into something that feels thoughtful and human.

What makes this initiative particularly meaningful is the combination of practical support and personal connection. The contents of the bags are selected based on real conversations with riders, while the hand-painted tote bags serve as a visible reminder that their efforts are recognised and valued.

For participants, the impact is immediate and tangible. It is a simple gesture, but one that helps strengthen the sense of connection, appreciation, and shared responsibility that brings communities together.
